Research Areas
Black Men, Identity Dissonance, Societal Expectations, Career Success, Psychological Well-Being
My research examines how identity dissonance, defined as the internal conflict between cultural authenticity and external pressures, shapes the career trajectories of Black men in corporate contexts. Drawing on Implicit Leadership Theory and social identity perspectives, I explore how societal expectations mediate this relationship and how psychological well-being moderates its impact on career success. Using a mixed-methods approach, my work seeks to inform leadership development and diversity initiatives by showing how systemic norms interact with personal identity to influence advancement, belonging, and organizational fairness.
